Twin Mirrors ~ brian coatney

Twin Mirrors
Something we can’t live without inside
gets destroyed—what to us was god.
This loss brings depression much too dark to hide,
which at first is the playground for the devil’s rod.

Such is woeful, “Why me? I want to die—
better to die than the mandate of this endure.”
But the soft, sweet Spirit says, “That is a lie;
the Cross is hard, but it is the lasing cure.”

That devil’s rod went out when Christ is in.
The lie once won, but truth now gets the nod.
No more does our master have the name of sin:
“You’ve died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.”

Something irreplaceable stands inside,
in the temple now, a ravishment complete.
Truth and beauty, twin mirrors standing wide
hold us captive in a kingly seat.
