Google versus Creativity - Is how you title things important?

Calling All Bloggers - Fellow Bloggers of all persuasions and interests , have I got this correct? If you want to be found on Google, you have to title your piece with something that clearly explains and encapsulates your post!

I picked this up in passing from Lydia Joy the other day.

The literary device of creating a conundrum, which you later unravel, hopefully creating a greater satisfaction in the reader is not encouraged then.

By that I mean I tend to create headings out of puzzling statements which have little or no meaning until you have read the article.

Am I shooting myself in the foot?

Replies please!

  1. I am contrary. I put "catchy" titles because I was an English major and titles are important. But I don't use labels which prohibits others from finding me. I am relying solely on the Holy Spirit to bring the readers not google. Like I said, I'm contrary. :)

    You guys are WAY smarter!!!

  2. Hmm, I just title my posts whatever I find suitable, but I do label them with the themes I wrote about, when I remember.........do what you like, I think mostly though that I find blogs by "networking", I don't find that those who find me via google analytics actually stick around for long......if you really want to be read and found you should fill our your labels at the bottom of your post and perhaps join a blog search groups such as tecnorati or the other numerous ones to choose from!! There are many ways to get your blog out there if you really want to - go check out Adrian Warnocks blog or some other popular christian blog and search their blogs and see how they are advertised or networked......hope that helps!!

  3. Thanks.
I actually had made a few changes because of Adrian's blog.

What I thought was interesting was how Lydia Joy got new people by having a specific and clear title.

A month ago when I was attaching myself to Technorati and Blogarama, I came to a similar conclusion to you Jamie. There were some extra things I could have done that I just had a check about. The thing is...we want to find people who are asking questions that are on the lines we are trying to unravel. And we also want to find their sites too.

The greatest discoveries over the past week for me are:
    http://amyiswalkinginthespirit.blogspot.com/

    http://socoteanu.blogspot.com/

and another person but I've forgotten...probably via Amy's site or something
