Hitchhiker's Guide To Christianity II : PG and X-rated Christianity explained

This is the second of the three parts recorded in 1990. The first is here with more explanatory details. Enjoy.

Part Three was recorded but not allowed by U2 Management. The track was destroyed while wondering which direction to take next. The original script to part 3 is here, and is set in a large shopping arcade which did not really exist in Britain in 1990.

  1. I had the same sort of struggles with this clip as I did with the Sea baptisms last month. Again it's always Microsoft compatability issues. The sound track of part 1 was an mp3 file...it played perfectly. This time Windows Moviemaker did not want to know. I had to make a wma file instead this time!! Took me ages wondering what to do! What is up with microsoft gear! First my Sony Cybershot, now my innocent little mp3 files taken from the wav files on my CD. So there is a bit more squaky compression on this track than I wanted. Hope it's clear enough.

Happy New Year...by the way all who come by here!

  3. Chris,
This CD is also great. I like your explanation of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and your deeper more detailed explanations of your three Levels of the Journey. The illustrations/analogies you used are very relevant, easy to relate to. I also like your use of "dialog" back and forth between your answers and the seeker's questions.

    Blessings,
    ~Amy :)

  5. Chris,

These are very good. Thought provoking... Though I suppose some out there will be offended by the comparison to "x" rated movies... but that is how it is... some are just offended over everything.

I am looking forward to the 3rd installment of this.

I am also looking at possibly using it on my online radio station.. I am not sure yet how I would use them... but I think that the listeners would find them interesting.

    Blessings,
    iggy

  6. iggy,
    Go ahead...use them.
It is actually quite offensive to think of Mature Christianity in it's purity, it's lasar like quality of living and speaking...in the same breathe as some seedy movie such as Emmanuelle 36 Sex with a toaster...but that's why I wanted to hammer that one with the phrase " not sex and violence...but suitability..."
In all other respects I have lived a version of x-rated Christian life, where your own brethren cross to the other side of the road, where they turn you down for any ministry whatsoever, where they start quoting totally weird scriptures at you...where the result of their cursing you nearly kills you the next day.... where nobody has a clue what you are talking about for 20 years...where even the Christian co-producer of the CD hasn't a clue what you are trying to record...where the main ICC Studios who I hired to duplicate "Third Level Christianity" in 1989 make it plain they will do the job cos they need the money, but don't ask them to let on that they were in any way involved, and forget any idea of getting behind the project to promote it in any way.
Listen ICC had just had the guy come over from the States to teach us naive English Christians about copyrighting everything in site and selling 50% of the rights to them etc. etc. This was the era of the monthly Hosanna praise tapes. Delirious did not exist. The only vaguely different stuff on the USA market was Petra Praise. Into all this insipidness was a guy trying to share with them what he'd picked up from a soon to die 90 year old called Norman Grubb. And as important as Don Moen might be in the scheme of things....Norman had reached the same stage by the 1920s evangelising Congo. OK he wasn't baptised in the Spirit as we would know it....but he could give the Hosanna crew a run for their money while fast asleep with his little finger!!!

I'm sure you've had similar things, which is why you can see both sides

  7. Thanks Amy for your comments to both Hitchhikers.
Just as our lives have broad phases which are similar for everyone...
    childhood
    teenage
    adults
they are as vague as this also, taking an infinite variety of forms.
Then everything can be further subdivided down
into "losing your milk teeth", doing exams, doing higher exams, running a young family or equivalent...right up to old age.
But in 1 John 2 these 3 parts are all we are given.
Another very real way of describing things is all the stages we go through in the True heavenly Tabernacle of which the Old Testament furniture was only a shadow...brass laver....candlestick etc etc. Or each and every chapter of the most beautiful poem ever written "The Song of Songs" I know you understand anyway.
